1. Scope and Default

This notice covers cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage, browser Cache API data, Web Push subscriptions, and comparable device storage used by ResearchCast. Essential storage is used by default where needed to provide a requested function. Optional analytics storage and capture remain off until you opt in.

You can reopen Cookie settings from the footer at any time. Refusing analytics does not reduce the core service.

2. Storage Register

• rc_consent — Provider: ResearchCast. Category: essential. Purpose: Stores the selected analytics-consent version and timestamp. Duration: 365 days Scope: first-party. Removal: Change Cookie settings or delete the cookie in the browser.
• sb-<project>-auth-token and Supabase session cookies — Provider: Supabase / ResearchCast. Category: essential. Purpose: Authentication, token refresh, session continuity, and account security. Duration: Session or the configured authentication-token lifetime. Scope: first-party. Removal: Sign out or clear site data. Clearing it ends the session.
• ResearchCast localStorage and sessionStorage preferences — Provider: ResearchCast. Category: essential. Purpose: Keeps UI preferences, legal language, checkout locks, playback state, and short-lived request state on this device. Duration: Session for sessionStorage; until cleared or replaced for localStorage. Scope: first-party. Removal: Clear ResearchCast site data in the browser; some preferences can also be changed in Settings.
• researchcast-offline-audio-v1 / researchcast-offline-audio-index-v1 — Provider: ResearchCast. Category: essential. Purpose: Stores audio explicitly saved for offline playback and its local index. Duration: Until the download is removed, site data is cleared, or storage is reclaimed by the browser. Scope: first-party. Removal: Remove the offline download or clear ResearchCast site data.
• ph_researchcast_analytics_posthog and related PostHog localStorage — Provider: PostHog EU Cloud. Category: analytics. Purpose: Maintains a pseudonymous analytics identity and consented product events. Duration: Until analytics consent is withdrawn, the identifier expires, or site data is cleared. Scope: first-party. Removal: Disable Analytics in Cookie settings; ResearchCast resets PostHog and removes its local identifiers.
• Browser Web Push subscription — Provider: ResearchCast and the browser/device push service. Category: essential. Purpose: Stores the endpoint and encryption keys needed for notifications the user explicitly enables. Duration: Until notifications are disabled, the subscription is revoked, or the browser removes it. Scope: third-party. Removal: Disable notifications in ResearchCast and, if necessary, in browser or operating-system settings.

3. Legal Basis and Consent

Essential device access is used only where necessary to provide the service expressly requested, keep it secure, remember the consent choice, or retain an offline item the user chose to download. Optional PostHog analytics uses consent.

The banner offers Essential only and Accept analytics with equal prominence. No analytics choice is preselected. The preference centre shows the current choice and consent version.

4. Withdrawal and Browser Controls

Withdrawing analytics consent stops future analytics capture, opts the browser out, resets the PostHog client, and removes ResearchCast-accessible PostHog identifiers. It does not erase aggregated statistics or operational records processed independently for security, billing, or legal obligations.

You can also block or delete cookies and site data in the browser. Blocking essential storage may prevent login, checkout, playback, saved preferences, notifications, or offline audio from working. Browser or device push providers may require separate removal in their own settings.
